    CONCRETE REINFORCEMENT

    Rebar

    Reinforcement

    Reinforcement

Rebar is simply, a steel reinforcing rod, used to add strength to concrete.

    Reinforcement

    Reinforcement

    Reinforcement

Rebar strengthens and stabilizes the concrete under tension.

    Strength

    Reinforcement

    Strength

Rebar is typically placed in a grid pattern.

    Strength

Artisan Concrete uses rebar in all of our concrete pours to add strength to the concrete.

Rebar allows concrete to carry much more weight and handle more pressure.

Artisan Concrete typically uses a #3 (3/8") or

#4 (1/2") rebar in all of our concrete.

    WHY CONCRETE?

    Why Concrete?

There are many benefits to installing concrete outside of it's customizability. It offers business and home owners a highly durable, cost effective,  product that requires low maintenance and will outlast many other construction materials.

    Cost
Concrete is one of the most economical and cost-effective products.  Concrete is low maintenance and highly durable leaving costly repairs out the window in years to come.

    Durability
Concrete has been used for over 2,000 years and mastered by Ancient Romans to which their buildings are still standing today.  Concrete is weather, fire, mold and mildew resistant. It does not require coating or painting to ensure it's durability against weather as would a metal or wood structure. Concrete is pest proof for those pesky ants, termites or rodents. Concrete outlasts most construction materials and offers homeowners and business owners peace of mind when making their purchase decision.

    Sustainability
Concrete is one of the most environmentally-conscious materials as it is made from materials locally available. Concrete produces no emissions, it is made of natural materials and does not require toxic additives. Concrete is a responsible choice as it leaves the smallest impact to ensure a sustainable future.

    FAQ's

    Does Concrete Crack?

Yes, all concrete cracks! This is due to the evaporation of water coming out of the concrete as it cures. This is not a reflection of poor workmanship.

How long after concrete is poured can I walk on it? Drive on it?

Generally you can walk on new concrete 24 hours after it is poured.

We recommend NOT driving on new concrete for 7 days after it is poured. Depending on weather conditions and some other variables it can lengthen this amount of time.

    What are control joints?

Control joints are intentional lines placed in the concrete to weaken the slab and help guide the cracks. This is an attempt to help prevent random cracking. Not all cracks will crack in a straight line or follow the joint line.

What can cause concrete to deteriorate?

Driveway concrete is susceptible to spalling from the Magnesium Chloride that is applied to the roads to prevent freezing. Concrete can also be damaged by other de-icers, such as salt.

    How long should concrete last?

Properly maintained concrete should last 50 years. It is imperative to remove ice and snow as soon as possible. It is recommended to keep concrete clean and free from all de-icers.
